Hardtner is a small town with a big heart. If you measured Hardtner by population, it would be on the smaller side of South-Central Kansas communities. But if you measured by civic pride or community spirit you might find yourself overwhelmed. Hardtner, formed in 1887, is well known for their work ethic, helping others, and special events. Most notably known for Hardtner’s Fourth of July celebration, also the Easter Egg hunt, Christmas Celebration, and the Barber County Fair just to note a few. These events bring people from far and wide. Hardtner has recently added murals in and around town boasting about their pride, whether it be local or national. The town has also added frisbee golf to their already amazing park. If you’re hungry, stop in at Yur Place for a great meal and some neighborly chat. As a small knit community, if a someone needs support or help, Hardtner’s community spirit is on full display as the town comes together whether the support is financial, emotional, or just whipping up a bunch of homemade food for a fund raiser. This is why Hardtner is known as the “small community with the big heart!”
Achenbach Memorial Park has been a staple of our community for years. Along with being the home of our infamous 4th of July festival, Barber County United has recently made great improvements! Explore to learn more!
